Writing a rule down adopts it. A setting is what enforces it.
For owners who have written limits into a role and want to know which ones would actually hold. For each rule you answer four questions: Is it written into the role? Have you seen it hold? Does a setting enforce it? Would it hold without you?

Steps
- List the rules you rely on most, one per line. Start with every item on the role's "Never without my OK" list.
- Is it written into the role? Point to the line.
- Have you seen it hold? Point to a real time it stopped, in the record.
- Does a setting enforce it? Name the setting and where it is. If you don't know, write "don't know".
- Would it hold without you? Picture a week when you can't check anything, and say what would still stop the action.
What to do with the result
A rule with no setting behind it is guidance. If it must never break, find the setting, or keep that step with a person. Start with the rules that touch money, customers or anything you can't undo.
A pasted role guides the agent. Your tool's settings are what stop an action.
